Set up provider arrangements alongside your map
Apple Legacy Contact and Google Inactive Account Manager have different triggers and limits. Record your arrangements without copying access or recovery secrets into your map.
Written by Rillora · Updated 18 October 2026Each provider controls its own process
A map helps someone find an account and understand your wishes. A provider's settings determine what its own service may do. Setting up one does not configure the other. Check the official instructions for your account and region, and review the arrangement when the provider, your contact or your circumstances change.
Apple: a designated contact for certain account data
Apple's Legacy Contact can request certain account data after the account holder's death. The request requires the access key and the documentation Apple specifies for the country or region. This does not include iCloud Keychain passwords, passkeys or payment information. Follow Apple's instructions for handling the access key; record a location or next step in your map instead of copying the key into it.
Google: choices triggered by account inactivity
Google's Inactive Account Manager can notify chosen people or share selected data after a configured period of inactivity. The account holder chooses the recipients and data. Inactivity is a different trigger from a documented death. Review the choices in Google itself; recording a wish in Rillora does not turn that Google setting on or change it.
Record what you arranged and where to check it
A useful record names the provider, notes that an arrangement exists and explains where its instructions are kept. Add when you last checked it and who should be contacted. A fictional entry could say: “Photo account; provider legacy contact configured; instructions kept with the household documents.” Leave the access key, password and recovery codes out.
Keep the two sets of choices aligned
If you change a designated contact at the provider, review the corresponding person and record in your map. If you revoke a Rillora invitation, that does not remove a designation made directly with Apple or Google. Check both places deliberately.
